daisy & twine bouquets

My husband (then fiancé) and I drove an hour out of town to find roadside daisies for our wedding bouquets. We probably picked a hundred of them in the baking February sun on the Thursday before our Saturday wedding, and put them in a tub covered by a wet tea towel for the journey back to my cool bathroom. There they stayed in jugs of water until Saturday morning when I trimmed the healthy remainders and wrapped them in twine. My fingernails went a bit green, but I was happy with the result.
Here they are ready and waiting for the afternoon's nuptials. They drooped and withered a bit towards the end of the day. One of my sisters kept hers to dry and it looks gross. She loves flowers, no matter how dead.
